Trainspotting is the best Scottish novel Ive ever read. Irvine Welsh shows us the individual world of heroine users. While sometimes it is powerful and full of happiness, it is also horrible and painful. The novels main theme is giving meaning to life. Although it is a fictional world, we can easily imagine their lives in the real world. The most significant character is Renton. He is the only who develops by trying to change his lifestyle. All of the characters are different. We can see that even a sober person can be worse than a drug user. From an other viewpoint, the novel has its comic features. Some characters, for instance Spud, are funny by their nature, and also the situations they get in are comic. I think everybody should read this book at least once.
